FPL price changes: when they happen, how they work, and whether to chase them
Player prices move on transfer demand, at most £0.1m a day, overnight UK time. Your selling price only keeps half of any rise. Points still matter more than team value.

What makes a price change
FPL player prices move with demand in the transfer market. Players bought by lots of managers rise; players sold by lots of managers fall. Prices do not move before the season starts.
A player can rise or fall by £0.1m at a time, and by no more than £0.1m in a day.
What time do FPL prices change?
Price changes run once a day at 00:00 UK time. If you want to buy a player before he rises, the transfer has to be made before midnight.
Since 2026/27 the official FPL site also has its own price-change predictor. It shows each player's progress towards a rise or drop as a percentage, updated every 15 minutes, with labels from "very likely to rise" to "very likely to drop". It is a guide, not a promise.
Your selling price is not the current price
When a player you own goes up in price, you only keep £0.1m of profit for every £0.2m he rises. The other half is a sell-on fee.
- Bought at £5.0m, now £5.4m: you sell him for £5.2m
- Bought at £5.0m, now £5.3m: you sell him for £5.1m
- Bought at £7.5m, now £7.8m: you sell him for £7.6m
- If his price falls below what you paid, your selling price falls with it
Should you chase price rises?
Only when you were going to buy the player anyway. Making a transfer early to beat a rise saves £0.1m, but it also gives up a few days of team news. If that player then picks up a knock, the saving is gone.
Selling early to avoid a drop works the same way. Losing £0.1m matters less than selling a player who was about to have a good run of fixtures.
A good rule: decide on points first, using the next four to six gameweeks, and use price changes only to choose between two moves that are close.
How FPLHERMES handles prices
When you upload a screenshot of your team, you tell FPLHERMES your money in the bank. Transfer advice is checked against your budget, so it never suggests a move you cannot afford. It recommends moves on projected points, not on predicted price rises.
