The FPL Triple Captain chip: rules and how to pick the week
Triple Captain triples your captain's points for one week instead of doubling them. You get two this season. The best time is a reliable starter with a very good fixture, or two fixtures.

What it does
For one gameweek your captain's score is multiplied by three instead of two. If your captain doesn't play, your vice-captain gets the triple instead.
The extra gain over a normal captaincy is one more copy of his score. A captain who scores 12 gives you 12 extra points.
How many do you get?
Two in 2026/27: one from Gameweek 1 to Gameweek 19 and one from Gameweek 20 to Gameweek 38.
Picking the week
- A player who is sure to start and play 90 minutes
- A double gameweek, if one is announced, gives two chances to score
- Otherwise, a home game against a weak defence
- Look at the player's ceiling, not just his average: you are buying the big score
Your first Triple Captain if no doubles appear
The first Triple Captain is lost if it isn't used by Gameweek 19, and doubles before Christmas are rare. If none are announced, play it on a nailed premium at home to one of the weakest defences rather than letting it expire.
Using FPLHERMES for it
Our captain picks show two lists: a safe pick with the highest floor and an upside pick with the highest ceiling. For a Triple Captain, the upside list is usually the one to read.
